Denise van Outen has been named as the new celebrity ambassador for children's charity Variety, which supports sick and disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

Van Outen, who joins celebrity supporters including Dynamo, James McAvoy and Joan Collins, and is currently starring in show Some Girl I Used To Know, commented 'I think it's so important that children and young people are given every opportunity to experience a happy childhood, so it's a great honour and a privilege to be a part of the fantastic work Variety does across the globe'.
